Six stones, two families
Quarried
Granite, marble, quartzite, soapstone
These come out of the ground as rock, so no two slabs match and each one is worth seeing in person before you commit. Marble and soapstone are the softer pair, and granite and quartzite the harder.
Made
Quartz, porcelain
These are manufactured to a pattern, which keeps a long run consistent from one end to the other. Quartz is bound with resin, while porcelain is fired, and the two ask very little of the person who owns them.
The shop also cuts a variety of edge profiles, so the front of the counter can be chosen along with the stone.
