Our process
Every stone job moves through the same five steps, and each one asks something small of you. Here is what to decide and what to have ready at each point.
Stone varies from slab to slab, so this is the one step worth doing in person. Look at the veining and the colour, and think about who cooks and who cleans in the room.
You decide: which of the six stones suits the room, and how much movement you want in it.
An estimate is only as good as the information behind it. A rough sketch with sizes lets the stone be counted properly, and the estimate costs you nothing.
You decide: whether the job includes a slab backsplash, a waterfall end, a sink cut-out or a particular edge.
For any stone job, the measure works best when the cabinets are set and level, the actual sink and faucet are on site, and the cooktop or range model is known. Every cut-out is sized to the real thing.
You decide: where the sink sits, how far an overhang reaches, and where you would rather a seam did not fall.
This is where measurements become stone. The slab is laid out so the veining runs the way you chose, then cut, opened for the sink and cooktop, and shaped and polished along the edge.
You decide: the edge profile and the layout, before the cut. Stone cannot be put back once it is cut.
The pieces are carried in, set on the cabinets, levelled and seamed, and the sink goes in. The seams are the part people look at afterwards, so it helps to be there for them.
Have ready: a clear path to the room, the cabinets emptied where needed, and someone who can approve the seam positions.

It helps to bring a rough sketch of the counters with sizes, photos of the room, the colour of the cabinets and a sink you have in mind. None of it has to be final.
